Today, the school's high reputation as one of the best and most effective educational institutions in the country is a true testament to the founder's philanthropy ethic. Ever before the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility became a public mantra, the Odutola was known for his love of philanthropy.
The school project was a product of his vision of improving national progress and development as a pillar of Western Nigeria's political development. It is therefore not surprising that from 1955 to 1958 he was a legislator (representing Ijebu-Ode division) in the old Western House of Representatives.
His business philosophy emphasised integrity, efficiency, honesty, and investment in youths, apart from his belief in Nigeria's ability to become a first-class country. He demonstrated this belief by promoting the country's first indigenously-owned and managed enterprises across a wide range of sectors.
